Chakchouka Wrap
A modern, portable street-food interpretation of the classic North African shakshuka, where soft scrambled eggs folded with a rich, cumin-scented bell pepper, onion, and tomato stew are wrapped snugly inside a warm tortilla or flatbread.
Ingredients
What you’ll need
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 red bell pepper (diced)
- 1/2 onion (diced)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 cup canned diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- salt, pepper
- 4 eggs (beaten)
- 2 flour tortillas
- 1/4 cup feta cheese crumbled
Method
How it comes together
- 1
Sauté: Heat olive oil on medium (350°F / 175°C). Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic for 5 minutes.
- 2
Simmer: Add diced tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until thick.
- 3
Scramble: Pour in beaten eggs. Gently scramble for 2 to 3 minutes until set.
- 4
Assemble: Warm tortillas, spoon the hot scrambled eggs in the center, top with feta, fold sides, and roll tightly.
Accuracy note
Reducing the sauce more than for a plated chakchouka prevents a soggy wrap. The wrap itself is a contemporary presentation.
